What is Humanistic counselling.

Humanistic Counselling upholds the belief that people should be viewed as a whole and not as the sum of their parts.  The Humanistic counsellor is guided by the belief that all human beings have potential for change, and that we all have choices.  the practice of Humanistic Counselling also facilitates the personal growth and increased awareness of the person.

Humanistic Counselling is made up of three different theories.

To be able to work within the realms of humanistic counselling the therapist has to be aware of themselves, to be aware of thoughts feelings and emotions to enable them to respond with the client.

There are of course a number of things that humanistic counselling cannot do no matter what model is used

1 Change the past
2 Guarantee a positive future
3 Help everybody
4 Guarantee happiness.

It can however
1 Help the client understand themselves better
2 Enable the client to talk through their issues
3 Allow present life situations to be explored and considered.
4 to help them become more of who they are.
